Community Peer Support Groups

At After the Rain, we believe in the power of shared experience and human connection. Our peer support groups offer safe, inclusive spaces where community members can come together to share their mental health challenges, personal stories, and coping strategies—without fear of judgment.

These groups are facilitated by trained peer leaders who bring lived experience, empathy, and understanding to the conversations. While not a substitute for therapy, peer groups provide a vital layer of emotional support, connection, and encouragement.

Each group is designed to foster mutual respect, empowerment, and healing through open dialogue, active listening, and community building. Participants are encouraged to set their own pace, speak freely, or simply listen—whatever feels most comfortable.

Led By: Vittoria, A Certified Grief Coach & Psychology Major
Widow, advocate, and companion in healing

Vitt is a Certified Grief Coach and Psychology major with a deep, unwavering passion for guiding others through the complex journey of loss and healing. Her dedication to this work is rooted not only in academic and professional training but also in profound personal experience. After the heartbreaking loss of her husband, Vitt faced the raw reality of grief — the loneliness, the emotional chaos, and the sense of being untethered in a world that had suddenly changed. She quickly realized how isolating grief can be, especially when the world seems to move on while you're still piecing your heart back together. Vitt offers both empathy and practical tools to help others process loss in their own unique way. She believes that healing doesn’t happen in isolation — it happens in community. In spaces where stories are shared, tears are honored, memories are cherished, and even moments of laughter begin to emerge again.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) group therapy is a structured, skills-based program designed to help individuals manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and reduce harmful behaviors. Rooted in both cognitive-behavioral techniques and mindfulness practices, DBT group sessions focus on teaching four key skill areas: emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. This group is ideal for individuals who struggle with emotional dysregulation, impulsive behaviors, mood disorders, self-harm, or unstable relationships. It is especially helpful for those who feel overwhelmed by their emotions or have difficulty coping in healthy ways. By participating in DBT group therapy, individuals gain practical tools to respond to life's challenges with greater balance, self-awareness, and confidence, all within a supportive, nonjudgmental group setting.
